Level 661: "Forsaken"

The M.E.G. betrayed us, they joined the invaders from the other side.
We made our choices, The Backrooms is our new home. They call this place hell, but for us, the Backrooms is a land of freedom. Free from the capitalism and all debauchery of human's society.
Unlike our former home, we finally found a place where we belong. Afar from the tyrannical governments they call "democracies", the only one to control our destiny, is ourselves.

But recently, these inconsiderate egoists somehow found a way to reach our lands, and as excepted, they are repeating the same acts they have done throughout their history. They never learn their lessons. They destroy everything they touch. Our home is in danger and we, the Backrooms Colonists, are determined to chase the invaders from our lands.

- Nolan Armstrong, Leader of the Backrooms Colonists.

The conglomerate and their allies have taken the eleventh first levels. Level 2 isn't safe anymore, so we had to relocate to somewhere safer. The Lost have given us the location of one of their remaining city. A temple seemingly buried and fallen into the abyss of oblivion.

Entrances

The only known entrance to Level 661 is through a secret passageway in Level 51. This information is strictly kept secret within the collective of the Lost, but due to the critical situation, they exceptionally disclosed us this information.

The oldest factions of the Lost discovered Level 661's entrance about 2000 years ago while they searched Level 51. A single stone door covered with vines and a seal representing the head of what is known to be "the forsaken" at its center. However, for mysterious reasons the entrance sealed itself just 2 years after its discovery, rendering Level 661 completely inaccessible and forgotten as time went by. Until it reopened precisely in 2019. Forsaken by all, it now resurfaced for some reason that we speculate being the arrival of the invaders from the other side. Is it a desperate attempt of reckoning, or a call from above?

Description

Level 661, nicknamed "Forsaken", apparents itself as ruins of a temple buried underground. The environment has been overgrown by vegetations giving the atmosphere a yellow and greenish hue and a smell of jungle, despite being completely cut from the exterior.

Accounts from the lost states that Level 661 was already in this state when they discovered the location, 2000 years ago. The origins of this level remains unknown but it is plausible that it is amongst the oldest levels to ever exist.

The Ring

Upon arrival, you'll find yourself in the ring section of Level 661. This area consists of a maze-like expanse of underground networks stretching in random directions. Every 2 hours, the maze structure alter itself, therefore, mapping the maze is considered impossible.

Rooms, while oftentimes not exceeding more than 10m², can be randomly encountered while traversing the maze serving as transit areas. Furniture such as vases and wooden crates can be found in those rooms, once opened may reveal almond water or royal rations. However, most of the times, they contain nothing and release a toxic dust instead. Should you be caution before opening one.

Due to the limited time Level 661 was available, the Lost couldn't provide clear documentation about this level. We mostly had to explore unknown lands, and amongst the largely unexplored area was the epicenter.

The Epicenter

At some point, while traversing the maze, you'll encounter a carved stone door leading to the epicenter of Level 661. This area is not affected by the environmental shifts and it can be accessed by the four cardinal directions. The epicenter consists of a large area seemingly sunlit by the small holes on the ceiling. The area is about 2 km² and devoid of any danger.

The forsaken is the only entity inhabiting Level 661 and is thought to be the guardian of the premises. The entity always roams the maze area and never leave the area.
The entity resemble a mythologic chimera, half-taurus/half-griffith with a long tail. The most notable features are it's wings and tail which extremities are made of steel, but visibly rusted. The entity move at a speed of 10 km/h, but has difficulty walking and drags his wings and tail on the walls and ground of the maze, resulting in a loud grinding noise hearable from far distances. The skin of the entity is half decomposed, exposing its steaming bleeding flesh, and leaving traces of blood wherever it goes. Despite being rather easy to avoid, you should absolutely stay out of the entity, as it will launch its harpoon like tail right at you once it sees you, and will drag you right in its mouth.

The location of the forsaken is widely inconsistent

The overall look of the forsaken is rather sad to witness, as if it were banished by divinities.

You can hear it through the hallways screaming in pain as the sound of grinding steel probably made it deaf.

Despite its poor state, it is unknown if the entity is immortal, but for strategic purposes, we should rather keep it alive.

Divines are probably the main threat of this level. They are sentient vines that will catch any wanderers that comes too close to it and inflict a paralyzing poison.

If you are poisoned, you must drink almond water until the first minute after infection to the risk of your legs being permanently paralyzed. Loosing you legs is not something you would want since you'll become an easy prey for the forsaken.

They can be sometimes difficult to spot as they blend into the environment. Turn back once you see a vine in motion or in an irregular position or get rid of it. To do so use firesalt against them. As they will instantly burn in contact of firesalt. Cutting them is also possible, but it requires more cautions.

Stay out from them.

Or they will make your life a torment.
